Westside Pharmacy (Update #1)!!!!!!!

What's good people? I know yall are wondering what's goin on in regard to the release of my new album Westside Pharmacy!! By the way, shout out to all the (artists, producers, A&R's, record execs, promoters, ect.) that have been showing me and my management love. But as of now I am officially 100% indie. Meaning, I'm no longer with (Beatmart/Sony/BMG). I actually asked for my release papers a little while ago, and was able to get them not long after. Also, when I say indie that doesn't mean with an indie hip hop label (Babygrande, ABB, Hall of Justus, Stones Throw, etc.). It means that I'm essentially paying for everything out of (my) pocket. That being said, it takes a little longer to release a professional product. Longer than it would if I had the traditional major label machine behind me. Trust me, I took all this into consideration when I decided to go indie again, lol. A couple of the many pros is that, 1)I can move at my own pace, how ever fast or slow that me be, lol. And, 2)I'm free to make my music how ever I wanna make it. As far as the project itself is concerned, its shaping up to be my best work to date. It mostly deals with us as humans, and how fragile we are. How fragile life is, and wether it's (physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually), we all need some type of medicine or healing at some point in our lives. I feel like it's gonna be a needed breath of fresh air and a groundbreaking album for Hip Hop, to say the least. I'm a keep yall posted in regard to how the albums is coming along in a couple. Holla!!! (myspace.com/japhialife).

The Arrogance of Mankind

Today I spent the afternoon at the University of Pennsylvania bookstore. Just thumbing through different books on various subjects, ranging from the History of Music to Economics. It’s one of the things I like to do outside of hittin the gym, or catching a movie on a free afternoon. It’s easily one of the biggest bookstores in Philly, if not the biggest. It’s huge!! Most people that don’t know me as well as they like to think they do, would probably never imagine me spending a large portion of my afternoon at a bookstore lol. The thing that they don’t know is that I have a passion for business and education. I’m not just some rapper that doesn’t understand that this is a business. The truth is, as a recording artist in this industry you have to educate yourself, or you will always be a starving artist, (I smartened up, opened the market up-Jay Z). Anyway, while I was taking a coffee break, I began to feel the urgency to check out my surroundings. I looked to my right, then to my left, and everything seemed pretty cool to me, everybody doin there own thing. Then I started feeling something saying take another look around, a closer look. That’s when I realized it was God that was trying to talk me, and trying to show me something. Then clear as day, I heard Him say, look at the arrogance of mankind. What?? Look at how they look at each other with such disregard for one another. Look at how you prejudge each other based off of ignorance and stereotype. Look at how you looked at the middle eastern man across from you and wondered if he was a terrorist. Look at how the man in the tie reading his bible looked at you with such certainty that he knows Me better than you do. Why do I have to allow 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina to happen in order for you to recognize how fragile, and mortal you all are? And for you to realize how much you need one another, but more so how much you are all in need of forgiveness of sins, and in need of a savior. So often we look at our neighbor in search of something that will show us to be better than them, myself included. Whether it be financial, physical, social, spiritual, theological, or intellectual status. No one is greater than their neighbor. And to assume otherwise, is the very Arrogance of Mankind!!!
